Availability

February - October

Varieties

Our Rocoto chillies come in two different colours, red and yellow. There is no difference in the heat factor between the two different types. We only have small quantities of yellow fruit due to lower demand.

Eating

Rocoto Chillies pack some decent heat, scoring from 30,000 up to 100,000 Scoville Heat Units (which is about 20x hotter than a jalepeno).

They are juicy and sweet, with thick meaty walls (like a capsicum). Inside, rocoto chillies have black seeds, which also pack a punch!

Best for using fresh, making hot sauces or salsas, or in cooked meals. Not ideal for drying as they're quite juicy.

Storage

Store in your fruit bowl to use within 10 days, or pop in the fridge to help them last a little longer. You can also freeze them whole for later use.

How We Grow Them...

Our chillies are grown amongst our passionfruit, tamarillos and bananas, completely spray-free and without any synthetic fertilisers.

We wash our chillies in water before drying and packing them.
