We only ship products on a Monday or Tuesday, because we don't want anything getting stuck in a courier depot over the weekend if it doesn't have to! So, depending on when you order, it might be a few days before we actually pack up your order and send it. If you provide your email address on the order, you will receive an email notification when your order has been shipped. For delivery times once the order has been shipped, check out our Delivery page.
We courier products to both the North and South Island of New Zealand. There are separate charges for North Island and South Island deliveries, and a surcharge for rural addresses. Delivery charges will be calculated at check out once you select your shipping method.
Check our Delivery information to calculate how long it normally takes to deliver orders across the country. If your order should have arrived, but it hasn't turned up, please contact us immediately via our Contact Us form and we can track your order through the courier service. We'll need the full name and address for the order, as well as your contact details so we can get back to you.
If you're not happy with your order, please get in touch with us via our Contact Us form within 24 hours of receipt. We will need the full name and address for the order, as well as your contact details so we can get back to you. We may ask you to email us photos of the problem so we can help get things sorted.
This is a tough one! Fruit weight changes throughout the season and between seasons depending on environmental conditions and crop characteristics. We've included as much detail as we can in the description of each product, and we will keep it updated based on any changes over the season.
As customers, we're used to seeing perfect looking fruit at the supermarket based on superficial standards set by the retailers. This means SO much fruit is wasted because retailers won't accept it. Fruit supplied by Bay Tropics may indeed include marks or blemishes on the skin, or slightly odd shapes. This does not mean the fruit is 'bad'. We've carefully checked each piece of fruit to ensure you're getting a quality product. Try it and see!
Just like any fresh produce, the products we offer are seasonal. Towards the start and end of the season, there is far less fruit available. In the middle of the season we tend to have a 'flush' of fruit that we need to move quickly to prevent it from being wasted. In these times you may see our fruit offered at lower prices or 'on sale'. We are doing our best to provide fresh, high quality fruit at affordable prices while still allowing our growers to cover their costs and earn a living.
Yes! We currently directly supply supermarkets, fruit stores, restaurants & cafes, wholesalers and food processing businesses. We have NZGAP certification, including Social Practice. Our growers are all small commercial and we can supply in bulk quantities (Tag 1 or Tag 2). Send us your query or order here.
We'd love to hear from you! Bay Tropics specialises in tropical or sub-tropical fruits and plants, and we have high quality standards. As a grower you must be registered under the Food Act 2014 and are preferably certified under a GAP programme. You would need to be able to pick and deliver your fruit to us on a weekend, according to the orders we receive each week. If you think your operations would be a good fit with our organisation, get in touch via our Contact Us form and we'll get back to you!
